Using The Library

Returning Books-Bookchutes are available for after-hours book return at New Prague Middle School.

Borrowing and Renewing-All books are due two weeks after check out.  You may renew a book as long as it is not on hold for another patron.  Overdue books must be returned before checking out new books.

Overdue  Notifications-Patrons will be notified of an overdue item 1-10 days after the item was due.  Final overdue notices are posted out 28 days after the item is due. This is a paper notice, email or verbal reminder. The charge is the cost of the book if not returned. If the book is returned you will not be charged for the cost of the book.

Hold Notifications-When an item on hold reaches the Middle School Media Center the hold is sent to the Middle School Office and given to the student during their lunch period.

How to Place a Hold-

  1. Type in your search words in the Quick search box on Alexandria Library System, select words or phrases, author, title etc from the drop-down menu and click on the Search button. A list of results will appear.
  2. Scan the list for the title you want.
  3. Click on show copy information and write down the barcode for the book you want to hold and bring it to the circulation desk.

What if I lose a library item?

Members are responsible for all items borrowed on their account. The replacement cost of any item lost or destroyed is required to be met by the patron (or guardian).
