A Letter from the Assistant Principal
Parents, Guardians, and Students:
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
I am humbled to be the Assistant Principal and Activities Director for New Prague Middle School. A few years back, I graduated from New Prague Area Schools and have always been very proud to call this area home. As a coach and educator, I love getting the best out of our student/athletes.
My goals for this year are:
1. Continue to challenge our students and staff to be at their best.
2. Make positive connections with students, families and staff.
3. Provide opportunities for students to be active and engaged in our extra-curricular programs.
4. Continue my efforts to learn all 900+ students' names.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Rick Bell, Assistant Principal | Activities Director

What sports are available at NPMS?
Indicates that this sport is a 7-12 program. Please contact the High School Athletic Office.
Does my child have to try out?
The philosophy of the district is not to cut athletes at the middle school level. Any athlete who goes out for the sport will get an opportunity to play. There are no tryouts; however, students may be grouped according to ability to help meet the needs of all participants.
What schools do we compete against?
The middle school participates in the Big Missota Lake Conference. The conference is comprised of schools from: Farmington, Faribault, Lakeville, Northfield, Prior Lake, Red Wing, Owatonna, Burnsville, and Shakopee.
When are practices and events?
Unless specified by the coaches, all athletic practices are held Monday through Friday with practices starting at 2:50 p.m. Event dates will vary depending upon the sport. Most events begin at 4:00 p.m. and the school provides transportation to and from the sites.
How do we find out about New Prague Middle School athletic events?
There are a variety of ways that information is communicated throughout the year. They include the following methods: Best option is to sign up for "Notify Me" link on Wright County Conference Website (then go to Member Schools and then New Prague, select "Notify Me" and add info), television monitor at school for student viewing, the district website, coaches, or the activity hotline (758-1490). Any cancellations and last minute changes are communicated to students through advisory periods or end of the day announcements. Coaches will distribute all other pertinent information to the student athletes.
How do we sign up?
All athletic registration will be completed on-line. Please go to http://nphsathletics.sportngin.com/ and the New Prague Middle School website. Then click on the "Activities and Athletics" link to get to the district NGiN Activities site. Click on the registration link to find digital forms. Physical forms must be turned into the New Prague Middle School office.
Pre-season Parent Meetings?
At the beginning of each season, there will be a parent/player/coach meeting. These meetings are a key factor in establishing effective communication between parents, athletes, and coaches. In the event of absence, an athletic packet can be picked up on the NPMS office information bulletin board.
Does my child's shot record qualify for a physical?
No. Your son or daughter must see a doctor before participation and get a sports physical. The physicals are good for three years. Physical forms can be picked up at the middle school on the information bulletin board outside the office. We also honor physical forms used by many doctors' offices.
Is there an activity bus?
Yes, there will be an activity bus to drop off students in Elko/New Market and Lonsdale. The bus availability is determined by participation and we need at least 40 riders to sign up and pay to run.
We ask that students are picked up no later than 10 minutes after practice or a game. Student safety and supervision are critical to the success of our New PragueMiddle School Athletic program. We ask that parents and students make prior arrangements for transportation to avoid unsafe situations for their child.
Is there a fee?
Most middle-level sports are $100 per sport except girls' hockey ($245) and gymnastics ($165). The family cap, which includes grades 6-12, is set at $450. We encourage families to initiate a contact when the cap is approached. Girls' swimming, hockey, and gymnastics is a 7th -12th-grade program. Please contact the high school athletic office for more information at 758-1227 .
