Students who had their picture taken on either of the Assessment Days have an ID card in their Friday Folder.  Any student who had his/her picture taken for the first time on Wednesday will not have an ID card.  ID cards will be coming at a later date for those students.

The New Prague Rotary has asked Raven Stream to participate in Pennies For Polio. Students may bring in pennies from Monday, October 9th – Friday, October 13th. Each classroom has a collection bucket.

We had High School students come talk to us about PROUD (People Respecting Others and Understanding Differences) on Thursday. The students read a book about bullying and discussed how to handle bullies. Monday, October 9th is Stomp Out Bullying Day, so students should wear blue.

On Sunday, October 8th the New Prague Area Schools will be a hosting an Open House for the newly renovated Central Education Campus and Middle School. The Open House will be from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

The New Prague Fire Department’s Open House is on Sunday, October 8th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The station is located at 505 5th Avenue NW. You will be able to meet the firemen, tour the station, see the trucks, try on equipment, and spray water.

It’s time to start thinking of our Harvest Day Celebration! We will once again follow the 5th grade tradition of dressing in 50s apparel on October 31st. Students should wear their 50s clothing to school (no changing during the day). No other costumes are allowed for 5th graders. This is optional for all students. The Harvest Day parade will be at 2:00 p.m.

 

Weekly Accomplishments: 
Math: We plotted decimals on a number line. 
Reading / Language Arts: We learned 5 different strategies that help us look for context clues. We also practiced using your and you’re correctly.

Science / Health: We learned about different world biomes and water biomes.
Social Studies: We learned about the Meso civilization.
