Get to know Mr. Phillips

We are fast approaching a new school year.  Here is a little background about me and my family. This will be my frouth year teaching at Raven Stream.  This year will be my 1st year teaching fourth grade and I am excited. 4th grade is a great time, the kids are coming in eager to learn new things and by the end of the year they have developed into responsible and independent learners.  I love the growth that takes place during the year.  Prior to this year, I have had a variety of experiences in education including substitute teaching for the New Prague and Prior Lake School Districts.  This year I have also embarked on the adventure of getting my masters degree in Educational Leadership through St. Mary's Univeristy.  I have learned a great deal and look forward to implementing some of the research learned from my studies.

I am a true Minnesotan at heart!  I grew up in Rosemount, Minnesota and graduated from Rosemount High School.  After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, where I received my degree in Education with a minor is Social Studies.  After graduation I moved back to Minnesota and married my wife, Alicia.  We met in college and got married in her hometown of Sparta, WI.  Yes, she is a Packer Fan, but I have forgiven her for that.  Alicia works as a registered dietitian for Park Nicollet at the Melrose Center in St. Louis Park.

We currently live in chaska, MN with our daughter Harper.  We are also blessed to be adding an addition to our family in September when we are due to have another little girl.  We also have 4-legged son, a Golden-doodle dog, named Duke.  He is very, very friendly and loves to go hiking and explore anything outside.  Along with spending time with family and friends I enjoy camping, sports, reading, and being active.  Born and raised in Minnesota has made me a huge Viking and Gopher Fan.  I also like Duke Basketball, and long to go watch a game at Cameron Indoor.

Lastly, I love teaching and being in the classroom.  I truly feel that this is the best job in the world!  Be sure to take a look at the Classroom Expectations and Class Policies as they will outline what you can anticipate this school year and how we are all going to act in our classroom.  Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions that may arise. Have a great rest of your summer and see you on the first day of School!!
