"Play Hard, Play Fair, and Be Safe"

Welcome to Raven Stream Physical Education!

Welcome to Raven Stream Physical Education! We are very excited about the 2017-2018 school year. Each and every student will have the opportunity to gain a solid background in a variety of activities, in both areas of skill development and content knowledge. As always, we will be stressing the importance of sportsmanship, respect and participation. Raven Stream is committed to improving the health of all Raven Stream students, while increasing their opportunities for physical activity.

Jump Rope For Heart was another huge success! In fact, it was the best fundraising year we have ever had at Raven Stream raising $13,767.64!!!!

Fitness Fever Hits Raven Stream 2nd Grade!

This March in Physical Education class, with support in the regular classroom, we will be participating in Fitness Fever with all second graders.  Fitness Fever is a program that helps promote eating fruits and vegetables, and exercising regularly. Things we all can work on!! Each family will receive a letter explaining how Fitness Fever works.  Included with the letter is a packet containing nutritional information, exercise ideas, and fun healthy snack recipes.  Families are encouraged to do this with your student. What a great way to get healthy together!! Remember to have your 2nd grader fill in their Fitness Fever Log each day during March.  Ready, set, go second graders! At the end of the month we will have a special visitor (Crunch from the Minnesota Timberwolves) come to our school to exercise with us!

Thanks from the PE team!

Kindergarten-5th - The students are in a one week unit of Food Frenzy Tag. This is an opportunity for us to get more in depth in the nutrition topic and MyPlate. They will begin the day with a small group dice activity. During this time they will be rotating through cardiovascular, strength and flexibility activities. The students will then play a warm-up game of Hero's Tag. This game continues on the theme of learning and independently chooses activities that fall into the 3 fitness components that are mentioned above. There are 3 different colored taggers and each represents one of the fitness components. When a student is tagged, they go off to the side and complete an activity that falls in that category. The final activity is Food Tag Frenzy. The students will be in small groups working to collect healthy food bean bags. There are taggers that are called Junk Food Junkies who are trying to catch them before they complete their task. The goal of the group is to collect bean bags and organize them on their MyPlate (dairy, fruit, vegetable, grain and protein).
