National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF)

Students with serous interest in a health care career may be interested in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.  Through a nine day seminar, held in the summer at various college campuses around the country, future doctors and health care practitioners will enjoy an extraordinary opportunity to discover their passions through hands-on medical experience. You will learn from doctors, participate in an interactive curriculum led by advisors, visit a top medical school, test your medical knowledge during clinical skills rotations, and explore professional opportunities in the ever-expanding fields of medicine and health care among fellow high school students.  Cost is around $3500.  See Ms. Erickson for details on how to apply.  


Minnesota National College Fair

The national college fair will be held on October 24th and 25th, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The counselors will be taking any seniors interested in attending, on Thursday, October 25th from 8:00AM -12:00PM. The fair would be most appropriate for those seniors still struggling with post-secondary plans or who would benefit from college representatives being available to answer questions. The college fair website and how to register for it can be found at this link.  (Registering allows you to print out barcodes with your name and address, so it's easier to share your contact info with representatives.)

October is College Knowledge Month!

Free Classes!

On Saturday, October 13th, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota will present a day of free classes hosted at Prior Lake High School to educate parents and caregivers on ways they can help youth achieve mental wellness.
