Classroom Events at a Glance

Math:   This last week before spring break, we will finish up our last fractions unit.  The study guide will be due on Monday and we will test on Tuesday.  We will then spend the remainder of the week reviewing the concepts of Range, Median, Mode and Mean.  Students will need to know the difference of these four mathematical words and how they relate to data. They will need to memorize how to define them and how to apply them to a data set of numbers.  These are important concepts on the upcoming MCA test.

Spelling:  Unit 24 worksheet was handed out on Friday (16th)  The next test will be on March 22. The words for Unit 24 are words that are found in geometry.  Example of the words are: pentagon, straight, trapezoid, circle and hexagon.

Social Studies: This week students will dive into their research of one of the 13 original English colonies.  Each student randomly selected a colony to become an expert on.  They will spend all of next week researching.  I will provide the research materials, websites, books, videos and documents that they will use for the research.  If they do not have their research finalized by the end of next week, they will have to do it over spring break.  They will get three full 1 hour class period to do their research.    After spring break, students will gather with a partner that is also assigned to that same colony and together they will develop a lesson to teach to the class.  The presentations should be about 10 minutes.  They will receive a rubric that will explain how the project will be graded.  After the presentations are over, we will begin our American Revolution Unit.

Reading & Science will be taught by Mrs. Ilkka.  Please see her webpage @ http://www.npaschools.org/users/cilkka and then click on Weekly Annoucements! for up-to-date classroom information for these subject areas.
