Welcome to Raven Stream Elementary!
Raven Stream Elementary is located in New Prague, Minnesota, an outer ring community surrounded by some new housing development and the beautiful countryside. We are located about 45 miles south of Minneapolis. The New Prague Area Schools serves over 3900 students in grades K-12 at the high school, middle school and 3 K-5 elementary schools.
Raven Stream opened in 2006 and has a student population of approximately 620 students in grades K-5. Raven Stream was designed and built to promote and facilitate opportunities for staff to collaborate and work together for the benefit of our students and parents. Raven Stream is a two-story school, with a beautiful Media Center serving as the heart and pulse of the building. The majority of our grade levels are four or five sections. Our kindergarten area has five classrooms with plenty of workspace for student learning and special projects.
At Raven Stream Elementary we provide a balanced and traditional curriculum with an instructional emphasis to teach all of our students to be successful readers, writers, and mathematicians. We believe it is important to guide our students to be respectful of others, to become independent learners, and work to their fullest potential. We offer additional programming for students who qualify for Special Education, ELL, or the Gifted and Talented programs. Community Education classes (science, art, Spanish, chess, Lego's, crafts) are also offered after school as a fee based option for students throughout the school year. Another source of emphasis and pride at Raven Stream are our grade level plays, music performances, spring art show, and family fun events. All of our curricular offerings and programs are designed to focus on the whole child.
The Raven Stream teaching staff has a great deal of experience with more than 75% of our teachers having earned a Masters of Education degree or higher. Our Raven Stream families are also encouraged and invited to be involved in the education of their children. We welcome parent volunteers to assist our teachers with projects, organizing materials, and tutoring students. Families are always welcome and encouraged to become involved in the Parent Advisory Committee. The Raven Stream P.A.C. meets once a month at 6:00 p.m. to plan and discuss various activities that support our students, staff, and families.
