"Play Hard, Play Fair, and Be Safe"

Welcome to Raven Stream Physical Education!

Thank you to all of our visitors during Take Your Parent to PE Week! It was exciting and humbling.

Welcome to an exciting year of physical education at Raven Stream Elementary. I will be working hard throughout the school year to share my passion for quality physical education and the importance of being physically active. All students will have the opportunity to improve their own personal health, skills, and knowledge on a wide variety of topics and activities. This page will inform you of what the students are currently working on in class. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns or even compliments.

The kindergarten-2nd-grade students are starting with a warm-up jog. The 1st-2nd-graders will play a tag game called Hero's Tag. When a student gets caught, they enter the "fitness center" and complete an exercise that matches the color of the fitness component they got tagged by. An example would be if they got tagged by red and red represents strength, then they would do push-ups. The students will then learn about hockey stick safety as they do some movement exploration with hockey sticks. As they get farther in the unit the students will do some stick handling and a little passing.

The 3rd-5th-grade students will start class by doing a warm-up jog and checking their heart rate after. The students will then do an instant activity called Hero's Tag. The game is explained above. The only difference is this age group gets to choose their exercise after they are tagged. The students will then learn about hockey safety and learn the four stations they will be working on. The stations are stick handling, passing with a partner, shooting, and a cardio corner which is jumping rope. The students will rotate through the stations so that everyone has an opportunity to practice all of the skills of hockey.
