"Play Hard, Play Fair, and Be Safe"

Welcome to Raven Stream Physical Education!

Take Your Parent to PE Week is Sept. 24th, 25th and 26th!!!

Welcome to an exciting year of physical education at Raven Stream Elementary. I will be working hard throughout the school year to share my passion for quality physical education and the importance of being physically active. All students will have the opportunity to improve their own personal health, skills and knowledge on a wide-variety of topics and activities. This page will inform you of what the students are currently working on in class. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns or even compliments.

The students have moved through Training Camp and now are beginning their first units of the year.

The kindergarteners are starting class with a 2-3 minute warm-up jog. Then they are doing an activity called Music in Motion. This activity gives them an opportunity to practice multi-task directions. They practice a movement activity when the music is on and a stationary activity when the music stops (ex. skip when the music is on, balance on one foot when the music stops).

The 1st-2nd grader are starting class with a 2-3 minute warm-up jog. They will then be spending some time on a couple team building activities. They will work in small groups of seven or eight students. The small groups will have an opportunity to discuss, try, adjust and retry the Tunnel Relay and Hula Hoop challenges. The students will conclude class by playing a tag game called Equipment Tag. Each player will get their own piece of equipment. The teacher will choose two pieces of equipment to be the taggers. The taggers will work hard to tag anyone who is not a tagger. If a player gets tagged, they stop and do an teacher chosen exercise to get back into the game.

The 3rd-5th graders will also start class with a 2-3 minute warm-up jog. They will then play the tag game Equipment Tag. That game is described in the section above. They will finish class by focusing on team work in a large team game called Capture the Football. The main focuses of this game is to work on teamwork, communication, strategy and comradery. The students are encouraged to changes jobs and roles frequently.
