Proud Tradition AND Promising Future

In collaboration with supportive communities, the New Prague Area Schools have a PROUD TRADITION of providing high-quality levels of education for all NPAS students. Unfortunately, funding from the state and federal governments has not kept pace with increasing inflation; unfunded and partially funded mandates; and the rising costs of educating 21st-century students. In order to stabilize funding to help ensure a PROMISING FUTURE for all students, the NPAS are asking local voters for an operating levy increase that will help maintain high levels of programming and avoid future budget reductions.

What will be on the ballot?

The New Prague Area Schools will place an Operating Referendum levy question on the Tuesday, November 7 ballot. Residents can begin early voting on September 22, 2023.
Voters will be asked to approve an increase to the current operating levy of $450 for 10 years.
If passed, the additional funding will result in an additional $2 million dollars per year to the NPAS’ Operating Budget starting in FY 2024-25. This additional revenue will help maintain high levels of programming and avoid future budget reductions.

If approved, how will the referendum benefit students?

Information gathered from a random sample survey of over 500 participants, indicated the community's desire to stabilize funding in order to maintain high levels of programming. Additional funding will allow the NPAS to maintain small class sizes, instructional technology, support for underachieving students, and social-emotional support, as well as avoid future budget reductions.
