Title One

Title I is a federally funded program providing additional educational services to students identified as at risk of failing or not meeting the state’s academic standards. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. Funding for Title 1 is based on the number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch program.

Title I Targeted Assistance Schools

Targeted Assistance schools provide additional instruction and interventions for students most at risk of not meeting state standards in math and reading. Title I staff, along with classroom teachers, administer grade level assessments to determine students eligibility. If your child qualifies, you will be contacted by building staff. Students do not have to participate in the free and reduced lunch program to qualify for services.

District 721 Targeted Assistance Title I Schools:

  • Falcon Ridge Elementary
  • Raven Stream Elementary

Non-Public Schools and Title I

Eligible students in non-public schools within District 721's boundaries are also eligible for Title I services. This school year, students in two non-public schools are receiving targeted-assistance services from District 721.

The non-public schools receiving Title I services are:

  • Holy Cross Catholic School
  • St. Wenceslaus Catholic School

Parent/Guardian Involvement

Parent/guardian involvement is a critical part of every child's education. New Prague Area Schools actively promotes the participation of parents/guardians of Title 1 children in a wide variety of opportunities. The New Prague Area Schools Title 1 Parent/Guardian Involvement Plan developed by the Title I Committee consisting of parents/guardians, staff, and administrators describe how we promote participation. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Maren Bahler (mbahler@isd721.org). We are continually looking for new voices to help mold our Title I and Title II programming.

Parent/Guardian Night

Parent/Guardian Night(s) will be held at Falcon Ridge and Raven Stream. Our Title 1 teachers will communicate the information regarding the events to identified families as plans evolve.

Parents’/Guardians’ Right to Know

According to the federal law, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), parents/guardians in all Title I schools have the right to request and receive timely information on the professional qualifications of their children’s classroom teachers. This applies to parents/guardians of all children in the school, not just those whose children are receiving Title I services.

District 721 has high standards for all of its instructional staff and only employs those who meet or exceed NCLB's Highly Qualified requirements. If your child is enrolled in one of District 721's Title I schools and you require information about the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teacher(s), we will respond with the following:

  • Whether or not the teacher has met Minnesota's licensing requirements for the grade levels and core academic subjects he or she teaches
  • Whether or not the teacher is teaching under a variance status
  • The education level and subject area of the teacher's college degree major, and any graduate degree or certificate held

(You can review these first two pieces of public information at education.state.mn.us. Follow the links to Teacher Support: Educator Licensing: View an Individual Educator's License.)

  • The education level and subject area of the teacher's college degree major, and any graduate degree or certificate held

To request this information, please call 952.758.1740.
