New Prague Commencement Information

Friday, May 31    |    7:00 p.m.    |    New Prague Trojan Stadium

Note: Inclement weather the ceremony will be moved to High School Gym. A decision will be made Friday morning.



Reminder:  Bring your caps and gowns (no tassels, cords, stoles, or medallians) on Tuesday, May 28, which is your last day at NPHS. Please do not decorate your caps for this event or for graduation.

You will return by 11:00 for graduation practice and the senior barbecue that follows practice.

Semester 2 Finals Schedule

Seniors will have finals on May 23 and May 24.   Both days will be a regular 7 period day (no early release on May 23) with finals scheduled both day.  Seniors will turn in their chromebooks on Friday, May 24.  Seniors last day will be on Tuesday, May 28 with events of Senior Stroll. Graduation practice, and Senior Barbecue. 

All other grades will have finals on May 29 and May 30 and turn in chromebooks on Thursday, May 30.  

Grades 9-12:  All fines need to be taken of prior to finals.

Again, please note that Thursday, May 23 will NOT be an early release.  


April 2:  Modified Day for ACT Test

New Prague High School will have an altered school day on April 2 due to the state required ACT Plus Writing Test for all juniors and the PreACT Test for sophomores. Due to the strict guidelines governing the ACT Test, we can only have students that are testing in the building during the exam period.

9th Grade and 12th Grade Students:  WILL NOT report to school but will have a blended learning day.

11th Grade Students:   Bring the following items for the ACT Test:  

  1.  Photo  I.D.   

  2.  Calculator   

  3.  #2 Pencils

Cell phones, smart watches, fitbits, and chromebooks are NOT allowed in the testing rooms.  They must leave those items at home or their lockers.

10th Grade Students:

This year, all sophomores at NPHS will have the opportunity to take the PreACT. The PreACT is modeled after the ACT and tests the subjects of english, math, reading, and science, within a shorter test window.  As a school, we will be able to use these results to provide both current achievement and projected future ACT scores for students who take the test. Individual student reports will be available. 

Why take the PreACT? 
The PreACT provides you and your child with information that can help select the right high school courses, think about ways to target areas for improvement and begin discussions about college and career. PreACT helps identify the following:

• Progress with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in college and beyond 
• Areas where extra help or additional courses are needed 
• Career possibilities that match the students’ interests 

Bring the following items for the PreACT Test:  

  1. Calculator

Schedule for 10th Grade and 11th Grade Students:

  • Buses will run on a normal schedule for any students needing transportation to school.

  • All 10th and 11th grade students MUST report as a normal school day at 7:40. 

  • 7:20-7:45:  Small breakfast will be provided for all testers. 

  • 7:45-12:30:  Juniors will complete the ACT Plus Writing Test and will be allowed to leave when their specific classroom is dismissed.  12:30 is an approximate time.

  • 7:45-12:30:  Sophomores will complete the PreACT Test and will be allowed to leave when their specific classroom is dismissed.  12:30 is an approximate time. 

  • Juniors and Sophomores can leave the building after completion of their test.

  • Buses will leave the high school at 2:35 p.m. as normal for any students needing a ride home at that time. 

Presale Tickets for Sadie Hawkins Dance

Student Council will be holding a Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, March 22 from 8:30-11:30 p.m. at the High School. Presale tickets will be available starting March 13 during lunch periods. Tickets are $5 each during presale and $6 at the door.  100 tickets MUST be sold by March 20 for the dance to be held.  If the dance is not held, presale tickets will be refunded. .   

We are looking for parent volunteers to work the concession stand. If interested, email Ms. Mittelstadt

Registration Night -- current 8th-11th graders and parents

Join NPHS staff to learn about the 2019-2020 course registration process as well as about specific programming and opportunities here at NPHS. Here are a few things to consider as you plan for your evening with us: 

  • You are welcome to arrive as early as 4:30 to pick up necessary materials for the evening. 

  • There are five structured breakout sessions. The first begins at 5:00 PM. 

  • You can create your own schedule and go to the sessions that are most relevant for you. 

  • Select four sessions you wish to attend. You may attend them in any order you wish. 

  • The one session you must be sure to attend, during any one of the five time slots, is the  General Registration Session.

  • If you still have specific questions after breakout sessions have ended, teachers will be available from 7:30 - 8:00 staff for individual concerns. 

  • We will operate on a bell system so that it is clear when sessions are starting and ending. 

When you arrive to the high school, please enter the main doors.  You will be directed to the cafeteria space to retrieve your 2019-2020 Registration Guide and other materials you will need for the evening.

Scott Equipment - Feed My Starving Children Volunteer Event

Scott Equipment is doing a large scale Feed My Starving Children event and has asked for the New Prague High School community to help out. 

November 15th    5:30-8:30    School sponsored----buses will be provided

November 17th   5:30-8:30    provide your own transportation

Please sign up to help with this large scale volunteering event that will benefit many individuals that are in need of a meal.

Please Note: All seating is General Admission ("first come, first served"). There is no reserved seating for 9 to 5 the Musical. The NPHS auditorium will open for seating 1 hour prior to performance. At that time, you may select the seat you prefer.


Bring A Veteran To School Day

Students can bring a Veteran to school on Veteran's Day, Monday, Novembr 12.   We want to show our thanks!

7:45-8:00:  Please check in by 8 am in the lobby of High School Main Doors.

7:45-8:30:  "Welcome Social"  with donuts, coffee, and juice hosted by Social Studies teachers and students in the Media Center.

8:35-9:30:  Q&A Session---Small Group Break out session with our student audience and Veteran Panels in Social Studies classrooms.

9:30-10:00:  Short break and line up for program

10:05-10:45:  Veterans' Day Program @ NPHS with The Color Guard.   Veteran guests will be ushered in with their student host to be seated in VIP seating on the gym floor to be honored during our school program.

Student Council Hosts Blood Drive

Door Decorating

Looking for any classes, departments, school groups, sports teams, or clubs to decorate a door in the Commons/Locker Bank area.  HS Office will provide the supplies----black, red, white background paper, cutouts can be made, construction paper, glue, markers, etc.   Decorate the door with a Homecoming or a School Spirit Theme.  Display your class, team name, club, group name on the door.  Students/staff can work on the door before/after school or during lunch.

How does my student receive their Chromebook?

5:00-5:50     9th Grade Check In at the Main Entrance.  You may arrive at any time between 5:00-5:50.    Students/Parents/Guardians are free to explore the school, meet teachers, etc.

Schedules Available on Campus Portal

Schedules for grades 9-12 will be available on Campus Portal on August 14.  Please bring your schedules with you for Open House.  Schedules will not be handed out at Open House.

LifeTouch Picture Day  

NPHS will NOT be having school pictures taken at Open House.   School Pictures for grades 9-11 will be taken on Thursday, August 30 during the school day.   Seniors should have their picture taken if they need a school ID.   The make-up date is October 15.

Students must have their pictures taken to receive their student ID.  Student IDs are needed to get into dances and all NP home sporting events. You don't have to purchase a package to receive a student ID.  Order forms to order pictures are available in the HS Office.    

Picture Date:   Thursday, August 30 during your social studies class.

Early Release Thursdays (begins September 6)

Early Release for Collaboration
We will be implementing an early release each Thursday at 1:50pm for all students in grades 9-12 to allow for our teaching staff to have professional collaboration time.

Students that drive or have access to transportation will be allowed to leave at 1:50 each Thursday starting on September 6th.   Those students riding buses, which will run at regular time of 2:32, or any others wanting to remain in the building will need to be in one of the three areas:

  • Commons
  • Lecture Hall if they have a test or quiz to make-up.
  • Media Center
