FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Dear NPAS Staff,
As we begin the 2025–26 school year, I want to express my deep gratitude for your continued commitment to our students, families, and one another. Each new school year brings renewed hope, purpose, and possibility—and I believe this year will be no different.
In the New Prague Area Schools, our vision is clear: To be a premier school district that models excellence and prepares all students for life’s opportunities. Achieving this takes more than words— It means living the NP Way every day: Doing What is Right, Committing to Excellence, and Showing People That We Care.
This year, I invite all of us to embrace the theme “Better Together.” It’s a simple phrase with powerful meaning. It reflects our belief in continuous improvement—for our students, our teams, and ourselves—and reminds us that we are strongest when we face challenges together. As Simon Sinek reminds us: “The goal is not to be perfect by the end. The goal is to be better today.” As we work to be better each day, I believe our shared commitment and collective care for one another will make all the difference.
Looking ahead, this fall NPAS will be asking local residents to approve an operating referendum to support our schools. Voters will be asked to increase the current operating levy by $510 per pupil for 10 years. If approved, this would generate an additional $2 million annually starting in 2026–27. These funds would help maintain student-to-teacher ratios, preserve transportation services, and sustain strong academic and extracurricular programs. More details will be shared in the coming weeks. Your engagement throughout the campaign will be essential in helping ensure a positive outcome for both current and future students.
On behalf of the School Board and the broader school community, thank you for everything you do to make the NPAS both a special place to learn and work. Here’s to a year of purpose, progress, and partnership. We truly are Better Together. Go Trojans!
With appreciation,
Andrew Vollmuth

DISTRICT NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
DISTRICT OFFICE ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP CHANGES IN OPERATIONS
As the New Prague Area Schools (NPAS) prepare for the start of the 2025–26 school year, the District Office is undergoing several structural changes in response to the upcoming retirement of longtime Director of Operations, Craig Most.
Craig Most, who has served the district with dedication and professionalism, will officially retire in August. Rather than replacing the Director of Operations position in its current form, the district is entering the second year of a multi-year, phased-in redesign of its administrative structure. This redesign aims to increase focus on academics, maintain strong operational and instructional support, and remain fiscally responsible by minimizing or reducing overall expenses.
The Director of Operations role historically oversaw transportation, the fitness and aquatic center, buildings and grounds, and technology infrastructure. Moving forward, these responsibilities will be distributed among current district leaders as follows:
- Buildings & Grounds: This area will now fall under the leadership of Brian Fell, whose title has been updated to Director of Finance and Facilities. Additionally, the Building and Grounds Supervisor position has been elevated to Manager of Buildings and Grounds, with Paul Giesen stepping into that expanded role.
- Fitness & Aquatic Center: Oversight of this facility will now be managed by Sandy Loxton, Director of Community Services.
- Technology (Infrastructure): These responsibilities will be incorporated into an expanded role for Shawn Brandt, Director of Technology, aligning all district technology services under one leadership position.
- Transportation: Day-to-day operations will now be jointly supervised by Superintendent Vollmuth and Paul Giesen, Manager of Buildings and Grounds.
These changes reflect a thoughtful and strategic use of internal talent while aligning with financial priorities and the current strength of NPAS facilities and operations. While some aspects of this reorganization may evolve over time, the district remains committed to ensuring continuity, support, and excellence across all departments. Questions regarding the changes can be directed to the Superintendent’s Office.
