FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Dear NPAS Staff,
Greetings and I hope this message finds you well. I would like to provide an update on two significant school district-related items. First, thank you to the numerous staff, family, and community members who have volunteered their time to the Facility Task Force. They have met over the past several weeks to review our long-term facility maintenance needs. In addition to prioritizing these needs, they will be providing a recommendation for school board consideration going forward.
Secondly, at the February School Board meeting, I provided a high-level overview regarding both potential referendum next steps and consequent structural budget reductions that would need to be considered if additional revenue is not secured in the next several years. This information is necessary for the school board members and the greater community as they continue to weigh the most appropriate next steps for our school system. I recognize the range of emotions these discussions can elicit for school staff, considering the challenges we have faced over the past two years. As a reminder, we are thankful not to have to make structural budget reductions again this spring, and it is my hope that we will not need to make changes to our programs going forward. To achieve this goal, however, such proactive discussions are necessary and appropriate to continue our tradition of being fiscally responsible with our taxpayers’ investment in our schools.
Please reach out to me or your school/site leader to discuss these matters in greater detail, and feel encouraged to keep your focus on our most important task of creating safe, welcoming environments and maximizing the learning experience for all of our wonderful students.
Please remember, your daily efforts are the reason the NPAS are great places for students to learn and adults to work/interact. Your dedication to meeting the academic and social needs of all of our students is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed by the greater NPAS community.
Best wishes for a productive month. I hope you have carved out time for a relaxing and refreshing spring break in a few weeks. All my best, and take care.
Sincerely,
Andy Vollmuth
