A Message From The Superintendent
Dear NPAS Families,
On behalf of the NPAS’ community, I extend warm greetings and hope this edition of our monthly communication finds you and your family well.
Our Facility Task Force has been meeting over the past several months. Thank you to the over 35 stakeholders for their service and active participation in representing all aspects of our school system and greater communities. This group is charged to provide a recommendation for the future state of our school district facilities to the School Board. To present an informed proposal, the task force has toured builds, reviewed our long term facilities maintenance plan, and been briefed on school finance and the avenues available to school districts to fund long term facility maintenance projects.
This group is still a work in progress and more detail will be provided later on this spring. Regardless of the outcome, please keep in mind the NPAS has a tradition of being excellent stewards of our taxpayer’s investments into our school and this will continue going forward. Additionally, our facilities are in relatively good shape. This is due to the diligent efforts of our operations team and past investments from the community into our school facilities. Despite this, additional work and care are necessary to maintain the infrastructure of these buildings and ensure they remain safe, welcoming and productive learning environments for all.
If you have any questions, I encourage you to review the Facility Task Force page on our NPAS’ website, or feel free to reach out to me or another member of our team if you would like additional details.
Thank you for your continued enthusiastic support of the New Prague Area Schools! Working together, we can continue to build upon our proud tradition as we create a promising future for all of our wonderful students. Take care and Go Trojans!
Sincerely,
Andrew Vollmuth

DISTRICT NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
2025-2026 School Year Calendar Update
Our calendar will be reviewed at the April School Board meeting. While this is later than we hoped, we are currently seeking approval from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) to determine if we can start the school year prior to Labor Day. This request is supported by both our staff and the results of the family calendar survey conducted in January. If MDE approves our request, the approval will be valid for three years, allowing us to release calendars for subsequent years earlier.
As soon as we receive notice, we will inform families about the start and end dates for the 2025-2026 school year. Regardless of whether we start before or after Labor Day, Spring Break for 2026 will be scheduled from March 30 to April 3.
Student Wellness
As part of our ongoing commitment to promote student wellness, we encourage families who are sending lunches and snacks from home with their child to refrain from sending food and beverages with little or no nutritional value. Due to current state legislation, all students attending our schools may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch on days they attend school. In addition, secondary schools sell ala carte items. All food served through Nutrition Services meets federal nutrition and wellness guidelines.
In addition to promoting healthy food options available at school, all NPAS students in grades K-12 have access to physical education classes. Elementary students in all grades receive physical education instruction along with daily recess. Middle school students receive physical education throughout each middle school grade and high school students are required to take at least one semester of a physical education class to graduate from NPAS. Additionally, at the high school level, there are a number of elective courses within the physical education department that students may also take.
There are also many out-of-school opportunities for students seeking physical activity through the New Prague Community Education! Check out the latest brochure here.
Start planning for summer! ☀️
All community education camps, classes and activities taking place this summer are open for registration.
