A Message From The Superintendent
Dear NPAS Families,
As November approaches, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership and enthusiastic support of our students and schools. This is a season of reflection and gratitude, and I am deeply appreciative of the families who contribute their time, energy, and trust to make New Prague Area Schools a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
This November is also a defining moment for the future of NPAS. After two previous unsuccessful operating levy referendums in 2022 and 2023, our district has placed the Proud Tradition AND Promising Future Operating Levy Referendum on the ballot for Tuesday, November 4, with early voting already underway.
This request is essential to our district's financial stability. If approved, the referendum will help NPAS:
- Maintain reasonable class sizes
- Protect transportation services
- Preserve high-quality programming for all learners
- Avoid further budget reductions that directly impact students
The proposal asks voters to approve a $510 per-pupil increase over 10 years, generating an estimated $2 million annually starting in the 2026–2027 school year. For a home valued at $400,000, the estimated tax impact would be approximately $20 per month. More information can be found on the Proud Tradition AND Promising Future 2025 Operating Referendum page on our district website.
In 2023, only 39% of NPAS families participated in the referendum election. This year, we want to ensure that every voice in our community is heard. Your vote can shape the future of our beloved school system. Together, we’re aiming for more than 50% family participation in this year’s election.
Strong communities and strong schools are woven together—when one grows stronger, the other thrives. Our schools are the heart of our greater communities, and community engagement is the foundation of our continued success. We encourage all eligible voters to participate—whether through early voting or on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4.
Thank you for the many ways you enthusiastically support our students, our schools, and our greater community. Together, we can build upon our proud tradition to ensure a strong, promising future for New Prague Area Schools. Go Trojans!
Sincerely,
Dr. Andrew Vollmuth
