MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear NPAS’ Families,
On behalf of the New Prague Area Schools, I extend warm greetings as we prepare to embark on the 2024-25 academic year! I hope the past several months have given you ample time to connect with those most important to you and also refresh and recharge for the beginning of the school year.
The NPAS have a proud tradition of providing a high quality education for the students in our local communities. Feedback from our most recent family satisfaction survey supports our collective achievements. 89% of respondents indicated they were satisfied with their child’s school, and 93% reported being satisfied with their child’s academic progress.
As a school system we are guided by our mission to support and engage students at high levels of learning, all-the-while nurturing an environment where they can thrive academically, socially and personally. In order to accomplish this mission, it takes dedicated professionals working collaboratively with families to ensure all students receive access to a high quality education. To that end, you will be receiving communication in the weeks to come in preparation for the start of the school year and ask that you continue to stay as actively engaged as possible in your children’s education throughout the upcoming academic year.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or another member of our NPAS’ team, if you have any comments or questions throughout the school year and thank you in advance for your continued, enthusiastic support of the New Prague Area Schools.
Together, let’s build upon our proud tradition to ensure a promising future for all NPAS’ students! Go Trojans.
Sincerely,
Andrew Vollmuth

DID YOU KNOW?
Learning Never Stops with Summer Learning Opportunities
Summer programming was in full swing for 288 New Prague Area Schools students between the dates of June 10th and July 11th. Summer programs provided by New Prague Area Schools were offered to students district-wide, and included Summer Learning Lab in which 113 students participated at Raven Stream Elementary, Eagle View Elementary, and New Prague Middle School; Extended School Year in which 52 students participated at the CEC, Raven Stream Elementary, New Prague Middle School, and New Prague High School; and Credit Recovery in which 123 students participated at New Prague High School.
These three differing programs all aim to continue student learning over the summer months by targeting specific student needs and supporting continued opportunities for growth. Amy Mittelstadt, Targeted Services Coordinator, reports, "All of our summer staff were fantastic, creative, and passionate and truly went above and beyond to provide fun and meaningful learning opportunities!"
New Prague Area Schools is proud to be able to provide such strong summer programming for families!
Notice of Filing for Candidates for School Board
New Prague Area Schools will be part of the General Election ballot on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. At the election, four members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each.
Candidate filing will begin on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, and shall close on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Affidavits of Candidacy will be available from the school district clerk at 410 Central Ave No, in New Prague. A filing fee of $2 will be charged.
A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o'clock p.m. on August 13, 2024.
Read Act Update
To support literacy instruction, the READ Act was legislation passed in Minnesota in 2023. All of our K-5 classroom teachers and K-12 special education teachers will have a year-long required training for reading. This training will occur over the entire school year, with over 50 hours of content. Based on this time needed, there were multiple student-days removed from the upcoming school calendar. We are excited about how this will enhance our overall reading instruction and student learning!
Czech Out New Prague
NPAS staff were out and about at the New Prague Chamber Czech Out New Prague Event. This event allowed our staff to connect with community members, students and families to share fun updates for the school year ahead!
