A Message From The Superintendent

Dear NPAS Families,

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! On behalf of our staff, I hope your family has had a great start. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to ensure a productive and rewarding experience for every student.

Over the past year, our district updated our stakeholder satisfaction surveys to gather structured, intentional feedback from staff and families. This input ensures our strategic priorities align with what is working well across our schools while highlighting where we can refine our practices.

Our Family Satisfaction Survey highlighted strong confidence in student safety, deep appreciation for our teachers, and overall satisfaction with our school culture. Of note, 84% of families reported that their child’s learning is a high priority, and 87% expressed feeling treated with respect at their respective schools. To build on these strengths, families requested clearer communication regarding academic expectations and more proactive updates on student progress. Leadership teams will use these insights to refine district goals, streamline internal continuous improvement efforts, and strengthen our family connections.

As we look ahead to the fall election, I also want to highlight an important update regarding Minnesota’s Permanent School Fund. On the ballot is a proposed constitutional amendment to modernize the fund's distribution formula, increasing per-pupil funding for current students while protecting its long-term strength—without raising taxes. Because this change requires a constitutional amendment, voter participation is essential: leaving the question blank counts as a "No" vote. You can find more details in this newsletter, and I encourage everyone to review the information and learn more about the proposed amendment in the weeks to come.
