K-8 Summer Programming
NPAS Summer Learning Lab aims to meet the needs of all learners. Through small group instruction, hands-on activities, organizational skills, and social/emotional learning, our goal is to instill self-motivation by equipping students with the necessary tools to learn and grow as individuals.
Staff
Licensed educators with a drive for improving student achievement will be employed to create a motivating and accountable setting for academic and social growth. Teachers will work to collaborate and share research-based instructional strategies and activities that will keep students active and engaged with the content.
Class Size
Small class sizes are one of the hallmarks of any successful target services program! Teacher to student ratio will be kept low and individual assistance will take place within each instructional period. In addition, current COVID-19 guidelines will be followed to ensure the safety of all participants.
Assessment & Accountability
Students at each level of instruction will be expected to make adequate academic progress throughout the summer months. Staff will view the strengths and weaknesses (via grades, test scores) of each student prior to instruction and will tailor the curriculum and activities to meet their needs. Measurement of learning will occur in a variety of ways and will be communicated by Summer Learning Lab teachers.
Transportation
Transportation services have been available in the past at no cost to students, however due to bus driver shortages, we are unable to provide these services this summer.
** Our goal is to provide opportunities for all students to attend Summer Learning Labs. The District will be collecting information from parents who are interested in helping with a ride share option. **
Elementary Summer Learning Lab
Each summer, our Elementary Summer Learning Lab provides students who have finished grades K-5 additional instruction needed for continued growth. Programming is offered both in New Prague and Elko New Market.
