District Climate Task Force

Overview

New Prague Area Schools received applicants for our School District Climate Task Force. We assembled a committee of effective, collaborative-minded people to help outline clear priorities for the District. Applications were accepted from NPAS 6th-12th grade students, all staff, parents/guardians, and members of all our communities.

The mission of the task force was to assess our district needs in the area of educational equity and work to improve our district culture, ensuring that every student receives what they need to develop to his or her full academic and social potential. The goal was to provide an inclusive environment for all and be responsive to the needs of all students.

The task force focused on shared experiences from its members, the elimination of hate speech and racial remarks, developing empathy, and providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all persons.

Task Force Members

The task force was made up of an authentic representation of multiple identity groups within the school and community. There were a total of 25 members from the following groups:

  • Current NPAS Students (grades 6-12)
  • Parents/Guardians of a Current NPAS Students (all grade levels)
  • Community Members (within NPAS boundaries)
  • NPAS Staff Members

The task force was scheduled for three meetings, one each in the months of April, May, and June 2022. Each meeting was scheduled for 90 minutes from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

After the third meeting, the task force elected to schedule three additional 90 minute meetings.
