Resource Services

Characteristics of Students

Students receiving resource services have met the state criteria for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (E/BD), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Physically Impaired (PI), or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Depending on their area of need, students may receive support in reading, writing, mathematics, organization, social, behavior, and/or functional skills.

Program Description

Special education teachers work with students collaboratively in the general education setting and/or in a resource room in a small-group instructional setting.

Curriculum

Curriculum is based on each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) goals. Students are learning skills and strategies that will increase their ability to be successful in the general education environment. Choices of materials will be based on individual student need.

Service Delivery Model

Each student receiving resource services has a general education grade level teacher. A wide range of services are provided in the general education classroom and/or in the resource room setting.

Related Services Students may receive additional support and related services based on evaluation results and IEP team decisions. Related service providers include Speech/Language therapy, Occupational Therapy (OT), Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE), Physical Therapy (PT), Physical Impairment (PI), Assistive Technology (AT), Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH), and Vision.

Each school in District #721 provides resource services.
